In Brene Brown’s book ‘Braving the Wilderness’, she says that being lonely effects the length of our life expectancy similar to smoking 15 cigarettes a day.
You know that your longing for connection is LEGIT - it’s life-saving. I think we’ve treated friendship like a luxury for far too long; friendship isn’t a luxury, it’s a necessity. We don't just want it. We absolutely need it.
You also know that COMMUNITY-BASED MIDWIFERY IS THE HARDEST JOB IN THE WORLD, and its lonely, and exhausting.
I know that midwives need a community that gets it and gets you.

YOU NEED THIS RETREAT!
Its time to say YES.
Yes to yourself!
Yes to your happiness!
Yes to your freedom!
YES to a friendship circle in midwifery!
Join me for the time of your life!

"The truth is: Belonging starts with self-acceptance. Your level of belonging, in fact, can never be greater than your level of self-acceptance, because believing that you're enough is what gives you the courage to be authentic, vulnerable and imperfect.”
- Brene Brown

About your travel arrangements
Traveling to Bali from the US takes 24 hours, please plan accordingly. Air flight costs are NOT included. You will need to arrange to fly into DPS - this is Bali’s only international airport outside the town of Denpasar. Share your arrival details and we will arrange for a shuttle to meet you at the airport and take you the hour up to the town of Ubud where SOULSHINE is located.
Bali uses the Rupiah as currency- the exchange rate is currently $70 USS to $1,000,000 Rupiah - you should plan to have about that amount in cash exchanged when you arrive - the US dollar is not accepted in Bali. There are plenty of ATM’s in Ubud, so don’t carry a lot of money. ATM’s there will take your visa and credit cards without a hitch.
Upon entering Bali, you will be issued a free 30 day tourist visa - DO NOT overstay your visa, as it is $100 USD/ day fine. If you are coming for an extended stay you can purchase a 2 month visa for $35 USD on arrival, but you will have to ask three times about it, because they don’t like to issue them.
If you plan to drive (motor bike rentals are everywhere), it is recommended that you go to your local AAA and purchase an international driving permit for $20 before you leave home. Although, driving in Bali is on the left side of the road and frankly terrifying with very few enforced laws. Taxis are everywhere, so no need. And we provide transportation for any group activities.
If you are desiring to stay longer (or arrive earlier) than the 7 day retreat, SOULSHINE may have openings, but call early to set that up. AirBnB is also very active in Bali.
